Beading & C0llage

Beading

The humble bead lends itself to so many different uses and you may have noticed I have used them on the tapestry to portray glittering water, as spiders in the landscape embroidery and of course all on their own in the pieces on this page. They come in so many different mediums from glass and clay to paper, wood and nuts.

I love the three-dimensional aspect of the different beads and finding the right bead to suit the piece on which I am working often making them from natural products.

Collage

Looking at my fabric cupboard one day I was appreciating the blend of colours and fabrics in the piles so, I decided to replicate it in a collage.

I then experimented further interpreting the local foliage and flowers.

Clients have asked me to weave special fabrics, such as wedding dress material into meaningful pictures for them.
